Love, jealousy, money and misunderstanding are some of the elements that make The Merry Widow one of the world’s most loved comic operettas, and it is the early 20th century’s version of a romantic stimulus package. The Ambassador of Pontevedro, to prevent his country from going bankrupt, goes matchmaking to keep the wealthy widow Hanna’s money in Pontevedro. Sung in English, this evening of musical shenanigans is co-sponsored by the Lancaster Performing Arts Center and the Antelope Valley College Music, Theatre Arts, and Dance departments.
